Women’s Health Advocate Tonya Lewis Lee’s professional journey into health and wellness started in 2007 when she began serving as the National Spokesperson for the “A Healthy Baby Begins with You” campaign. This campaign initiated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health provided Tonya with the opportunity to travel around the country, engaging with different communities about the issues that most affect women’s health. In 2009, Tonya produced the documentary CRISIS IN THE CRIB, exploring the issues of infant mortality in the United States. It was through this work as a women’s health advocate that her own health journey took form, ultimately leading Tonya to found her wellness brand MOVITA.
MOVITA was created to help women gain a baseline of good nutrition and a practice of positive choices that support a lifestyle of well-being. MOVITA launched a Women’s Multivitamin in 2015 and a Beauty and Prenatal vitamin supplement in 2019. All MOVITA products are certified organic by ICS.
Tonya is also a best-selling Author, penning three children’s books which have sold over a million copies: Please Baby Please, Please Puppy Please and Giant Steps to Change the World. As an independent Producer, Tonya has produced scripted and unscripted work, including such classics as Miracle’s Boys, a six-part television series, and the television film The Watsons Go to Birmingham, based on the Christopher Paul Curtis novel.
