Dr. Ian Rogers

Associate Scientist/ Professor

Dr. Ian Rogers, PhD is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and an Associate Scientist at the Lunefeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Sinai Health System (formerly Mt. Sinai Hospital).

  • Graduated with his PhD from the University of Toronto. His thesis focused on early embryo development.
  • Started his own lab in 2003 with a research focus on Stem cells and Organ manufacturing.

Dr. Rogers’ lab is focused on developing organ culture systems to improve stem cell therapy. The lab is focused on three disease areas: Type 1 Diabetes, Diabetic skin ulcers, Diabetic nephropathy
The long term goal of the lab is to build a kidney for transplant from a patient’s own stem cells.

Dr. Rogers is a co-founder of Insception-Lifebank, Canada’s largest and oldest Umbilical Cord Blood Bank
