Predicting trends is an elusive but critical element of success, whether you’re an established business or an emerging entrepreneur. When attitudes change new opportunities arise, and youth culture is one way we can get a preview of what’s to come.

This generation of youth are experiencing some of the most rapid change in history that spans technology, entertainment, health and wellness, gender identity and sexuality, the geo-political landscape, and everything in between. While technology is influencing the pace of change, it’s also enabled youth to have more influence on future trends than ever before.

At Elevate New Media, you’ll hear from thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and experts who will share their ideas around how to leverage youth culture and give insight into the major trends on the horizon.

Free Your Mind and the Rest Will Follow. How Mindset in Youth or Any Age Leads to Success with Ariel Garten

Our young generations are strong and capable of limitless possibilities, but if Ariel Garten were to guess, most of them wouldn’t agree. The voices in their heads and constant comparison of themselves to others on social media try to hold them back from being their true, brilliant selves and reaching their full potential. After learning that 85% of the world is suffering from low self-esteem, Ariel knew she needed to utilize her background in neuroscience to do something about it to help young people develop healthy habits around wellbeing. Ariel has spent the past decade building a technology that gives real-time feedback on the brain, which is now helping hundreds of thousands gain control over their mind to find one’s self. Ariel will share how technology and wellness practices like meditation can empower young people to overcome negativity and fear to understand their purpose and create a more progressive generation driving change.

Video Revolution – Levelling the Playing Field Through Online Video with Rebecca Glashow of Awesomeness in Conversation with Carlos Bustamante of ET Canada

For millennials and Gen Z, the path to fame and fortune is no longer created by an elite group of Hollywood. The onus is no longer on the studios or representatives to make someone a star as online platforms have democratized the path to fame and fortune. The Internet is dictating who will become the next big thing, born and propelled to fame by consumers and fans. Millennials and Gen Z are looking for more diversity and more authenticity than ever before. The new model is that talent needs to be engaged on social media and with their audience and it is then up to the studio to work in conjunction with the talent to harness that power.

Rebecca Glashow is the Co-Head of Awesomeness, is a media company focused on creating original content for Gen Z through its digital publishing, film and television studio divisions. Awesomeness has become a destination for youth culture, cultivating a loyal audience with hit programming on the world’s biggest streaming services along with the company’s immensely popular short-form programs on YouTube that garner hundreds of millions of views.

In this session, Rebecca will share her insights on how social media enables today’s youth to connect quicker than ever before, how these new platforms have helped to democratize the path to fame and fortune and how companies need to better engage and create a level of authenticity to ensure that their brand is trusted by their audiences.
